Therapy is an act of creativity.
It’s a place of self-discovery and invention. A process of becoming.
At its best, therapy provides space to get curious about who you are and to create the life you want for yourself. A place to unearth the roots of self-doubt and relationship difficulties and ease feelings of anxiety, depression, or isolation. A way to make sense of what’s happened and to resolve the patterns that are holding you back. It’s feeling seen, heard, and valued for who you are, as you’re becoming all you want to be.
At Becoming Psychotherapy,
we believe creating the life you want happens when you know yourself. The parts you wear with pride and those that feel messy and hidden away. When you know where you come from and where you’re going, healing is possible.
At its best, therapy is less about fixing what’s wrong (although it does) and more about nurturing strength and courage already inside you. It’s a place to explore identity, heal trauma, and navigate life and career transitions – figuring out what it all means and shaping the stories we tell ourselves.
We’re passionate about getting comfortable with ambiguity and living in the “gray areas,” embracing vulnerability as strength, tackling perfectionism, self-doubt, and shame, and improving communication.
We help you feel more connected and less alone — to belong, just as you are. We grow your connected resilience in an increasingly disconnected world.
We welcome big personalities and quiet reflectors. Poets, dreamers, creators, and rebels.
People who are deep thinkers and curious adventurers. Couples craving connection that goes deeper than love language.
You’ll find a safe space, even a home, here.
Meet Tanya.
I’m a board-certified, trauma-informed psychotherapist, grounded in emotionally focused and insight-based psychodynamic practice.
My relational approach to therapy is shaped by my past life in a creative industry: I take joy in helping creative people (and the creative within all of us) harness their superpowers and in helping professionals navigate high performance cultures while protecting their well-being. I offer minimally structured and highly individualized sessions that allow curiosity and open-ended exploration.
I approach clients with a compassionate and open heart. Together we work to reduce anxiety and depression, improve emotional awareness and regulation, grow self-acceptance, lessen social anxiety, and heal trauma. Individuals and couples learn to improve communication, deepen empathy, and build more satisfying relationships.
People come to therapy with the wisdom to grow already inside them. It’s my role to provide accepting space and favorable conditions – a safe haven and secure base – to become our most creative, inspired, and vital selves.
“The good life is a process. It’s a direction, not a destination … it involves the courage to be … the stretching and growing of becoming more and more of one's potential.”
— Carl Rogers, founder of humanistic psychology
